Baobab-Fuzz
The BAOBAB from Red Ant is a fuzz pedal, inspired by the legendary fuzz Jordan Bosstone. It was launched in 1967 by Jordan Electronics who in the 1950s was engaged, among other things, in the production of Geiger counters! It's quite a wild fuzz, but at lower gain levels it can be used as more of an overdrive or distortion. Compared to the original model, higher values of coupling capacitors have been used in the BAOBAB and thus strengthen the lower frequency band meaning a fatter bottom end. Also, the transistors have lower HFE, which tightens up the overall sound more.
It is powered from a standard 9-volt power supply (9-10 V,30-500 mA, 2.1mm center negative adapter). Of course, true bypass switching, reverse polarity protection, red status LED and the use of quality components (alpha switch, amphenol connectors, alpha potentiometers, wima, epcos, samwha, nichicon, elna capacitors, matching wiring, etc.).
