Freddie-Fuzz

The FREDDIE from Red Ant is a silicon fuzz pedal, inspired by the SAM ASH FUZZZ BOXX. This guitar effect pedal was designed in 1967 and became an integral part of the sound for Tommy Bolin, Leslie West, Gene Cornish and many other guitarists. The design is somewhat different to something like a FUZZ FACE. The fuzz is created by a pair of silicon diodes with the second transistor being an “emitter follower“ (negative current feedback circuit), followed by a Hi-pass Filter and an output level pot.. The SAM ASH FUZZZ BOXX slighty less low end, and the character of the sound falls more into the OD/DIST area. The FREDDIE based on the original design, the low end is enhanced by increasing the capacitance of the input and output capacitors. The TONE potentiometer has been left out, and many agree that the effect on the resulting sound is minimal. The controls consist of DRIVE and LEVEL.

It is powered from a standard 9-volt power supply (9-10 V,30-500 mA, 2.1mm center negative adapter). Of course, true bypass switching, reverse polarity protection, red status LED and the use of quality components (alpha switch, amphenol connectors, alpha potentiometers, wima, epcos, samwha, nichicon, elna capacitors, matching wiring, etc.).

Size: 112×60×50 mm (L × W × H)
